football onesie

My nephew plays football, so I thought it would be cute to make my niece a little football onesie (my sister in law made the skirt & headband...but you can find a similar tutorial here). I haven't gotten to see her in it yet, but my father-in-law sent me these cute pictures.

The Weekly Creative #6

Welcome to week 6 of The Weekly Creative! I hope everyone had a nice weekend and I hope anyone in the path of "Hurricane Sandy" is hunkered down and prepared for the storm. We have a few bags of ice, some candles/flashlights, and we're just hoping our sump pump can keep up with all of the rain. Despite the gloomy weather, here are some featured posts from last week to brighten your day (don't forget to grab a featured button from the sidebar):

[3] I'm jealous over this trick or treat bag by Navy Wifey Peters - who wouldn't want to collect candy with this adorable Halloween accessory!?

...& If you missed them, here's what I shared this past week:

Also, I'm a guest blogger over at Cocktails With Mom today. I'm featuring my sweater vase and would love for you to pop over there (and show Dee's awesome blog some love). CLICK HERE to check it out :) Thanks!

fabric tutu

My niece, Sadie, was in desperate need of a fabric tutu...Who isn't? They're just so cute! I saw a lot of different tutorials online, but I just ended up doing it my own way. I wanted a lot of little strips with fun colors and patterns and I think it turned out pretty cute. Look at her adorable little face...she liked it! :)

sweater pumpkins

I recently attended a party that had sweater pumpkins as part of their table displays. I WAS IN LOVE. I knew that they couldn't be hard to make, so I went to our nearest Salvation Army in hopes of finding a perfect sweater. Here is what I came up with...

wedding card holder

In the spirit of sharing wedding details and DIY ideas during our anniversary month (see other posts here & here), this post is about fun ways to decorate your gift table. We chose to use a mailbox for our wedding cards:

It was a great "catch all" place for cards and small gifts and at the end of the night it could be easily closed up and put in the car. We got married at an Industrial Museum, so the metal mailbox fit in perfectly in the space.

Although...we didn't just buy the mailbox for the wedding... We now use it at our house!

We bought our first house a few months before the wedding and the mailbox we inherited was in poor shape. After the wedding, we put our "card holder" to good use. I love that it was part of our special day and now serves a purpose in our everyday life.

yarn spiders

So far this Halloween season, I've made a halloween bannercheesecloth ghosts, & graveyard dirt. Next on my list were spiders! These little yarn spiders were easy to make and they add some fun to my Halloween decor. Some may see these as more of a kids craft...but hey, I like them! :)

graveyard "dirt"

A few Halloweens ago, I made a graveyard "dirt" cake to take to a Halloween party. It was a big hit... complete with cool whip ghosts and milano cookie gravestones!

This year, I decided to scale back this idea and make individual "dirt" cups. They're simple, fun and easy to take on the go. Plus, they took all of 10 minutes to make...which is my kind of "cooking."

date night scratch-offs

For our first anniversary, I wanted to make a sweet little gift for my husband that was fun yet practical. These date card scratch-offs were just the ticket. These will help us with the "what do you want to do tonight?"..."I don't care, whatever you want to do" moments.

cheesecloth ghosts

I started off my Halloween decorations with a banner and now I have moved onto something a little spookier...ghosts! I've seen these cheesecloth ghosts done a million and one times (they're even on the front of the cheesecloth packaging) but I thought they would be a fun addition to the blog and my Halloween decor.
