cupcake fun

Ever since I got these cute cupcake books for Christmas a few years ago I've been OBSESSED with adorably designed cupcakes.

The only problem is...I haven't even attempted to ever make any. What's my problem? For my sister in laws baby shower, I offered to make cupcakes and told myself I was going to try some sort of design (no matter how small and simple).

So here's what I did:
I made 2 different cupcakes
I made 2 different icings
Decorated them (semi-adorably but not book worthy)
Made doily cupcake wrappers for them
Then...I ate one of each (they were good!)

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.
Everyone said they were delicious and pretty!

Here is the cupcake breakdown and a little step by step on how I made the doily wrappers:

rope bowl

This project was one of those "I've got to make this right now" type of things. I saw it online...got really excited...bought the supplies...and made a bunch of them. These rope bowls are fun, easy (I did it while watching tv) and they make great gifts!

dino art

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend my cousins wife's baby shower this past Saturday. I hated to miss it, but knew I wanted to make them a special gift. When I found out they were planning a dinosaur theme for the nursery I decided to make them some wall art.

I'm absolutely thrilled with how they turned out [and I hope Mikie & Patrick like them too].

tic tac toe

I loved tic tac toe as a kid. When I saw a similar idea to this one online, I knew I could make these for practically free. I thought they would be cute to have on a coffee table or up at our family's cabin. I "borrowed" a few duplicate tile samples from work and whipped up two boards. I love how they turned out.

Here is what you'll need to make your own:

6x6 tile (or other base)
10 round stones
painters tape
small paint brush
exacto knife
paint (I used leftover paint samples and acrylic)
