weekly creative #15

Welcome to week #15 of The Weekly Creative!

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. I took the week off of blogging while I spent time at my parents house in Washington state. The week went by WAY too fast but was relaxing and fun.

Wednesday is my 1 year "blogiversary" so please stop back over because I have a fun giveaway planned!

Also, I'm throwing out some resolutions. If they're out in the open, I might be more inclined to follow through with them. I guess we'll see... Feel free to leave some of your resolutions in comments below!

A few of my resolutions for 2013:
1. Complete a blog makeover
2. Find a healthy balance between work, family, working out, crafting/blogging and time with my husband.
3. Take part in a local craft show and/or start selling again on Etsy.

This week I'm skipping features and going straight to the link party.
Please link up any of your favorite projects from 2012!
Here are a few on MY favorites from the year...

Link up as many projects, recipes, etc. as you'd like. No giveaways or etsy shops please.
Visit some other blogs and show them some love. Simple as that.

Thanks for linking up!
Happy New Year!

the weekly creative #14

Welcome to week #14 of The Weekly Creative!

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is where they're going to be spending the holiday, safe and warm with family and friends. Thank you for stopping by every week to link up your amazing projects and recipes. I truly love seeing what you post every week and the inspiration really keeps me wanting to blog.

As promised, here are some pictures of our decorated Christmas tree (better late then never, right?):

Now, onto the features. Here is what I was loving this past week (make sure you grab a featured button from the sidebar under the tab "grab a button"):

[1] This handmade felt stag by Simple Home Life is the cutest animal I've ever seen hanging on the wall!
[2] MacGIRLver made  dollar store drawer pulls that look absolutely amazing.
[3] I'm really hungry for peppermint whoopie pies after Practically Functional showed us how to make them.

...& if you missed them, here are the posts I shared this past week:

Now...onto this weeks party :)

Link up as many projects, recipes, etc. as you'd like. No giveaways or etsy shops please.

... & Merry Christmas.

glittery chord ornament

While meandering through the aisles in Michael's, I stumbled upon these sweet little letters. I knew the second that I saw them that they would make perfect ornaments. I originally thought that I'd wrap them with yarn, but I found something better: glittery chord!

I won't say that these were "simple"...because it did take some time to make sure the chord wrapped around the letter nicely and covered the entire thing. However, all it took was an eye hook, some chord & a hot glue gun and I had some fun little ornaments to include in some of my Christmas gifts.

Even though they're a little late for this year, I'm sure they'll look adorable on the tree next year!

christmas crafts for kids

I think I love little kids crafts just as much as any other type of craft! We had our annual Christmas party at work the other night and I was in charge of the kids craft. I thought something easy (and yummy) would be the perfect thing. These little Christmas mice and reindeer are fun crafts for kids of all ages and they are made using simple supplies. Here are the instructions for both:
