baby leggings

Today I'm home from work watching my little niece Sadie while my sister and brother-in-law are at work. For the record: Sadie is MUCH cuter than looking at tile all day.

Last night I decided that I wanted to make something to bring along with me today. This quick and easy project was the perfect thing... Sadie and I got to place dress up:

Isn't she the cutest?
Anyway...

The fun thing about these is......... they started out as a pair of socks!

Here is what you'll need to make your own:

A pair of socks
A small piece of elastic (enough for the waist band)

note: Vary the size of socks to achieve the legging size you want.
_______________________________________________

[1] Start by cutting the toes off of both socks

[2] Cut along the center sole of the sock (where it naturally folds) to the middle of the heal.

[3] Turn one of your socks inside out. Put this sock inside the other sock (which will remain right side out). Line up the edges and pin to secure.

Basically, your "right sides" are together
pinned and ready to sew
[4] Sew along your edges leaving the top (where you cut the toes off) open. I zigzag stitched close to the edge and then ran a straight stitch right next to it just to make sure it was nice and secure.

Turn your leggings right side out and you should have something that looks like this:

Almost done...

[5] Sew your elastic to the top inside edge of your leggings.
note: stretch your elastic (just a little bit) as you sew.

[6] After you elastic is attached, fold your band over to hide the elastic.
Top stitch to secure in place.

I went around twice

You're all done! Now you have an adorable pair of baby leggings.
