things to try

I'll be up front with you: this is a Pinterest based post.

I thought it would be fun to recap some of the fun things I've seen and tried lately from Pinterest that I think are amazing. It might give you some fun ideas to do yourself (if the time presents itself).

Here are my top 5 recent Pinterest experiences:

Dana's Mexican Bean Wonton Cups

Dana from Lets Meet For Lunch posted this recipe a few months ago and I've had it on my list of "recipes to try" for a while. I followed her recipe almost exactly, except I added some ground beef (with hot & spicy meat seasoning - yum!). They were delicious and easy to make. Click here to find the recipe to try yourself! You won't be disappointed...

Circle Zip Earbud Pouch

I made a handful of these for my mom. She gave them out to her "Slot Slut" friends - a group of ladies she goes to the casino with. They clip them on lanyards and keep their IDs and money in them. They turned out really cute and they're fun and easy to make. They don't require a whole lot of material so if you have scraps or even some fat quarters you'd be able to make a few of these. It's also a great project if you have a fear of zippers. Here is the tutorial that I followed. [FYI - I enlarged the pattern a little bit so that the pouches would fit IDs, credit cards, etc...]

Easter Chicks

Yes, I'm sure I'm one of millions of people that made these on Easter, but I couldn't resist. I made them as an "appetizer" for Easter dinner. My husband loves deviled eggs, so I knew they'd be a hit. They were time consuming, but well worth it. I used black olives for the eyes and small pieces of carrot for the noses. These could also be cute for a kids birthday party or a even a baby shower.

Penguin Snacks

Again, this was another one I couldn't resist - My cousin, Erin and I made these back for our Ugly Sweater/Christmas Ornament exchange party. They were actually pretty easy to make and they were tasty. I saw the idea here. These are really cute for Christmas...but I don't know how well they'd go over at a kids birthday party. Do kids like olives? Maybe they would in the shape of a penguin. Speaking of Christmas party... Here is my husband in his ugly "sweater" outfit (with matching inappropriate facial hair) holding the ornaments I made him:

Maybe there should be a felt food tutorial in the near future........we'll see.

Onesie Dress

This is one of the most adorable little things I've ever seen. I made this for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I also made her a flower headband, a paci holder and a diaper strap to go with it. This pattern was so easy to follow and you could alter it to make a one of a kind gift. I plan to make many more of these for shower gifts when there are future little girls... I can't wait to see miss Sadie in hers.

So there you have it...my 5 favorite Pinterest finds [that I've actually made/baked/etc].
I have plenty of other things pinned that I hope to get around to soon...
